This project was to support the school’s upcoming Literacy Night. The idea was to create 5 bookmarks to support the 5 subjects they planned to talk to parents and students about.
- Comprehension is a storyboard with prompts to help students remember to pay attention to the whole story.
- Fluency has tips on becoming proficient at reading.
- Phonemic Awareness shows the umbrella of skills that help us recognize word parts.
- The Phonics bookmark is a cheat sheet of word sounds.
- Vocabulary is a place for readers to write down words they do not know so they can look them up or ask later.
At Literacy Night teachers ran stations to talk about each topic while participants colored, painted or collaged their bookmarks.
